- If you own an automobile on April 1st, you have to pay annual automobile tax to the prefecture this year, and if you own a light vehicle or a motorcycle, you have to pay light vehicle tax to the municipality.
Pay the tax by the due date with the bill for tax payment sent from the prefectural or municipal office.
The amount of the tax is decided according to the type and the cylinder volume of your vehicle. - When you buy, sell, or scrap an automobile or a motorcycle, or change your (the owner’s) name or address, you have to report it to the authorities.
