Assistance of Payment of Medical Bills for Children

There is an assistance program for medical expenses for inpatients and outpatients who are not yet in elementary school and inpatients who are in elementary school. The children have to be the residents of Kakegawa city and must be insured by health insurance.

(1) Payment at your own expenses

  Inpatient: free of charge
  outpatient: 500 yen per one time. If the insurance medical fee is less than 500 yen, the amount of the fee is the payment. It becomes free of charge after fifth visit to the clinic/hospital.
※The amount of payment by insurance will cover both for inpatients and outpatients(meals while staying at the hospital, usage of private room, books and magazines, containers for medicines are at your own expense.)

(2)Issue of recipient card (recipient cards for the elementary school children would not be issued.)

A Recipient card will be issued to the child before the elementary school age. Please fill out the application form and submit it at the Welfare Division of the City Hall or at the branch offices.
Please attach the copy of the insurance card that shows the name of the child.

(3) How to receive an subsidy for children’s medical expenses

You can receive an subsidy by showing the recipient card along with your health insurance card at the clinic/hospital.

(4)Please claim a refund under the following circumstances.

  1. Hospitalization of the elementary school children.
  2. You could not show the children’s medical expenses recipient card when you visited the clinic/hospital.
  3. When you visited a clinic/hospital outside of the prefecture you reside.
  4. When you visited a clinic/hospital which does not provide the Assistance Program for Children’s Medical Expenses.
  5. When you paid at your own expenses for public funded medical expenses like the child-care benefit for   

premature babies and Ikusei Iryo (Assistance Program of Medical expenses for children under the age of 18 who have physical disability or disease that is classified by the government.)

You need to bring health insurance card of your child, seal, applicant(parent)’s bank book (postal bank account is not applicable), children’s medical expenses recipient’s card, receipt that include the statement of the consultation at the clinic/hospital. (receipt only is not acceptable.)
