NATIONAL HEALTH INSURANCE

Those who are eligible to live in Japan for three months and more and register their addresses have the right to enroll the National Health Insurance. The followings are not subject to the National Health Insurance enrollment: those who need to enroll their social health insurance provided by their workplace or late-elderly medical insurance, or receive the living support from the municipal government.

INSURANCE TAX
One’s insurance tax amount is calculated from his/her previous year’s annual income and noticed to him/her by the end of every July.
Insurance tax amount for people with foreign nationalities is minimum in its first year since they have no previous year’s income earned in Japan. Their insurance tax amounts vary depending on their annual income earned in the previous year starting from the second year.
You can pay your insurance tax at a bank/post office in the city or at a convenience store. You can request a bank transfer.

BENEFIT
Benefits are paid for medical expenses, childbirth and child care expenses, funeral expenses.

In the following cases, you have to report them to the City Office within 14 days.

  • When you enroll National Health Insurance: Move-in to Kakegawa, childbirth, withdrawal from the health insurance provided at work, etc.
  • When you withdraw from national health insurance system; due to moving out from Kakegawa, leaving Japan, receiving public assistance, death, joining  health insurance at work, etc.
  • Other cases: change of the address within Kakegawa, change of the householder.
